Nakshatra calculator
Your janma nakshatra is the lunar mansion the Moon occupied at birth. It names your birth star, sets your first dasha and is used for naming and matching.
Your birth details
How it is worked out
The zodiac is divided into 27 nakshatras of 13°20′ each, and each is split into four padas of 3°20′. The Moon passes through one nakshatra in about a day, so the time of birth matters.
Each nakshatra is ruled by one of the nine grahas. The ruler of your birth nakshatra is the lord of the first Vimshottari dasha of your life, and how far the Moon had travelled through the nakshatra decides how much of that dasha was left at birth.
The pada gives the first syllable traditionally used for a child’s name, and the nakshatra is one of the eight koots compared in kundali matching.
