Sankashti Chaturthi 2027 in New Zealand
Every date in 2027 for Auckland, on its own clock, with the other cities in New Zealand noted where they keep a different day.
Sankashti Chaturthi is the monthly fast for Ganesha, kept on Chaturthi, the fourth day of the dark fortnight, and broken after seeing the Moon. When it falls on a Tuesday it is Angaraki Sankashti, and two are kept especially widely: Sakat Chauth in Magha and Karwa Chauth in Kartika.

How the dates are worked out
The fast is kept on the day Chaturthi is running at the night’s moonrise, since it is broken by offering arghya to the Moon; at high latitudes the Moon can rise after midnight, and where Chaturthi misses both moonrises the fast is kept on the day it prevails at sunrise. Moonrise is calculated for the city chosen; it can differ by twenty minutes or more between cities.
Questions
When is the Sankashti fast broken?
After moonrise, once the Moon has been seen and offered arghya, followed by Ganesha puja. That is why the moonrise time matters more than the tithi on this day.
Is Karwa Chauth a Sankashti Chaturthi?
Yes. Karwa Chauth is the Sankashti Chaturthi of Kartika (Ashwina in the amanta calendar), kept by married women with a fast that is broken at moonrise.
